Executive Vice President and Global Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer and Special Counsel, Walmart Inc.
Elisebeth (Beth) is Walmart’s executive vice president and global chief ethics and compliance officer and special counsel. She oversees the company’s multi-disciplinary ethics and compliance program and risk management.
Beth previously served as senior vice president and chief counsel, Regulatory and Specialty Legal. Beth has 25 years of global experience in various complex legal, compliance, and policy roles in three public companies and in the U.S. government. Among other roles, she served as deputy general counsel and chief compliance officer at Caterpillar, general counsel and corporate secretary at World Wrestling Entertainment, and lead counsel for the Autonomous Systems Division at Boeing. She was nominated by President George W. Bush and twice nominated by President Obama to senior government roles, serving after Senate confirmation as the assistant attorney general for Legal Policy at the U.S. Department of Justice and as a board member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board. Beth also worked at a major international law firm and a boutique litigation law firm.
She earned her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chicago. She served as a law clerk to the Honorable Laurence Silberman on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and the Honorable Lee Rosenthal on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
